Alessandro Cavallotti
Strong generalist at the intersection of product strategy, UX design, and software development.

About Me
👋 I'm Alessandro Cavallotti, a digital product professional with 4 years of experience at the intersection of product management, UX design, and software development. I combine technical skills with design thinking to build products that users actually want to use. 😊
Currently, I'm the Product Owner at Technica Electronics in Barcelona. 🚀 Before that, I worked as a UX Designer at Air Liquide in Paris, focusing on AI applications, and spent two years as a full-stack developer at Junto Innovation Hub. I also freelanced as a mobile developer and founded Rosterbook, a networking app for Italian basketball. 🏀
🎓 I hold a Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Université Paris-Saclay, and a Bachelor's in Computer Science from Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. I'm comfortable with full-stack development (Django, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js), mobile development (Flutter), design tools (Figma), and modern AI-assisted development workflows. 💪

🚗 I joined as Product Owner, though I wear different hats in this role. I work on our web applications, ensuring they constantly release new features that improve the user experience. I've handled projects from scratch, covering everything from business requirements and user journey design to interface development and technical architecture.
💻 What I do goes beyond planning and creating Jira tickets. I'm very hands-on with design and development, choosing the right tools and architectures. I focus on understanding and meeting business objectives efficiently, making the most of our resources while keeping stakeholder expectations aligned.

🎨 As a UX Designer on the product team, I designed user journeys and flows for new applications and processes. I worked on a 🤖 documents-to-data initiative, an AI project converting institutional knowledge into automated formats. I conducted 👥 user research and interviews to understand data collection needs and optimize usability. I also contributed to a generative AI chatbot, focusing on UX design for AI applications.
💡 A key challenge was designing for cases where AI generates incorrect outputs, creating guard rails for when the system doesn't work as expected. Thanks to my dual background in design and development, I also implemented parts of the application. I contributed to the global design system and wrote production code, deploying PRs that were used in live tools.

🏢 During my studies, I worked for two years at Junto Innovation Hub, a consultancy helping startups build their software infrastructure. I handled 💻 full-stack development on projects including an order management system, working with Django for backend and HTML/CSS frameworks for frontend. I also worked independently on Niipy, implementing the complete user onboarding and authentication flow.
📚 I worked closely with experienced designers, learning how professionals who've built products reaching hundreds of thousands of users maintain high coding standards. This experience gave me the foundation for everything I've built since. It's where I started learning UX design principles and best practices that shaped my approach to product development.

📱 As a freelance mobile application developer, I built applications using Flutter, a cross-platform framework for iOS and Android. What makes this meaningful is that I started with no mobile development experience. When asked to build an application, I didn't say no. 🎓 I learned by doing, starting with small steps and gradually completing full applications that I deployed to both app stores and maintained for nearly a year.
🛠️ I handled everything independently: architecture, implementation, deployment, and marketing. I put significant effort into it and learned a lot in the process. This was before AI-assisted development, so it shows my ability to learn new frameworks from scratch. It's the first substantial project I built on my own.
